JAILED IRANIAN ARTIST ATENA FARGHADANI RECIPIENT OF CRNI’S 2015 COURAGE IN CARTOONING AWARD

آتنا فرقدانی در اوین است و جایزه جهانی شجاعت در کارتون نصیبش شد

آتنا فرقدانی هنرمند کارتونیست زندانی برنده‌ی جایزه‌ی شجاعت در کشیدن کاریکاتور از سوی شبکه‌ی بین‌المللی مدافع حقوق کاریکاتوریست‌ها(CRNI) شد. خانم فرقدانی اولین زن در جهان می باشد که به شکل انفرادی برنده ی این جایزه جهانی شده است.

این هنرمند-فعال ایرانی به علت کشیدن و انتشار کارتونی در اعتراض به طرح پیشنهادی مجلس شورای اسلامی ایران که حق کنترل موالید و حقوق زنان را در ایران محدود می‌کرد، زندانی شد.

این جایزه‌ی شجاعت در تاریخ ۵ سپتامبر ۲۰۱۵ در مراسمی هم‌زمان با نشست سالانه انجمن کاریکاتوریست‌های مطبوعات آمریکا غیاباً از سوی دکتر رابرت راسل، بنیان‌گذار و مدیر اجرایی این شبکه‌ی بین‌المللی به آتنا فرقدانی اهدا خواهد.

CRNI’s 2015 Courage in Cartooning award is being given to Iranian artist-activist Atena Farghadani. Ms. Farghadani was jailed in Tehran in August of 2014 after publishing a cartoon in protest of proposed legislation that would restrict birth control and women’s rights in Iran. Following her release four months later, Farghadani posted a YouTube video recounting her beatings and mistreatment while in prison. In anticipation of her trial on charges that included “spreading propaganda against the system,” Farghadani wrote a defiant open letter to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in which she said: “I know … I will be in a court that screams injustice. I will be present before a judge who for years has skewed the BALANCE of justice … What you call an ‘insult to representatives of the parliament by means of cartoons’ I consider to be an artistic expression of the … parliament which our nation does not deserve!”

As a result of that letter and her YouTube posting, Farghadani was returned to prison in January, 2015. In May, she was tried and found guilty of “insulting members of parliament through paintings” and “insulting the Iranian supreme leader.” Atena Farghadani was sentenced to 12 years, nine months in prison.

The Courage in Cartooning award will be presented to Atena Farghadani in absentia by CRNI founder and Executive Director Dr. Robert Russell in Columbus, Ohio, on September 5, at an evening event during the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists 2015 convention.

By extending the mandate of the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Iran for another year, the Human Rights Council has recognized that serious human rights violations continue to take place in the country, and that international attention on human rights should not be diverted by the ongoing nuclear negotiations.

FIDH has tirelessly called on the Council to keep Iran on its agenda and to continue to monitor, discuss and publicly report on the situation of human rights in the country, irrespective of geopolitical considerations and based on an objective assessment of violations committed.

The extension of the Special Rapporteur’s mandate is especially important given the Iranian authorities’ refusal to address the persistent human rights violations taking place in the country, including the repression of basic freedoms, discrimination against women and ethnic and religious minorities, denial of due process, particularly for the many prisoners of conscience that remain behind bars, and the increasing application of the death penalty in violation of international law and standards for due process. Such violations of human rights in Iran are systemic, widespread, and systematic.

 

 

با تمدید نظارت بر وضعیت حقوق بشر در ایران:

۱ آپریل 2015 (12 فروردین 1394) ـ با تمدید ماموریت گزارشگر ویژه ایران به مدت یک سال دیگر، شورای حقوق بشر به این تشخیص رسیده است که نقض حقوق بشر در این کشور ادامه دارد و گفتگوهای جاری هسته ای نباید باعث انحراف توجه بین المللی به حقوق بشر شوند.

فدراسیون بین المللی جامعه های حقوق بشر پیوسته از شورا خواهان حفظ ایران در دستور کار آن، تداوم نظارت، بحث و گزارش دهی عمومی در باره وضع حقوق بشر در این کشور، صرفنظر از ملاحظات مربوط به جغرافیای سیاسی و بر اساس ارزیابی عینی از نقض حقوق بشر شده است. (1)

تمدید ماموریت گزارشگر ویژه بخصوص از این نگاه اهمیت دارد که دولتمردان ایران از توجه به نقض مداوم حقوق بشر در این کشور، از جمله سرکوب آزادی های اساسی، تبعیض علیه زنان و اقلیت های قومی و دینی، زیر پا گذاشتن موازین قضایی، به ویژه در مورد زندانیان عقیدتی پرشماری که هنوز در زندان به سر می برند، و افزایش اجرای مجازات اعدام در مغایرت با حقوق بین المللی و موازین قضایی، سر باز می زنند. این موارد نقض حقوق بشر در ایران ساختاری، سامان مند، گسترده هستند.
